Have you taken the ten minute exercise challenge?

Ten minutes of exercise a day could really help to boost your health and wellbeing.

If you don’t think you’ve got time, add this on to everyday activities such as doing the school run (walk briskly during drop off or pick up and if you park your car, park it a bit further away), if you get the bus to or from school, college or work, consider getting off at the stop before and walking the rest, consider a brisk ten minute walk at lunch-time and take the stairs rather than the lift.

Consider wearing a step tracker and aim to build up your daily steps over time.  There are many pedometer apps to download free of charge from your phone which will also track your activity, helping you to know how much activity you are undertaking each day and helping you set goals to improve  your daily activity.

A brisk walk is simply walking faster than usual, at a pace that gets your heart pumping faster, making you feel slightly out of breadth.

When you get home, get your vacuum cleaner out and hoover your home for ten minutes to get you moving, take the dog for a walk, take the kids out for a walk or out on their bike – when you think about it, it’s easy to factor ten minutes of exercise into your day.

Combining your ten minutes of exercise with eating healthier, drinking less alcohol and quitting smoking can help you to live longer and healthier lives.
